Flavor (Tori Amos)

i'm ecstatic the video is finally out!

Battle of the minds
cries Below cries Above
You must pick a side
Will you choose fear?
Will you choose love?

What does it look like,
this orbital ball from the fringes of The Milky Way?
What does it feel like,
this orbital ball on the fringes of The Milky Way?
Raining flavor
Icing flavor
flavor love

Whose God then is God?
They all want jurisdiction
In the Book of Earth
whose God spread fear?
Spread love?

And what does it look like,
this orbital ball from the fringes of The Milky Way?
What does it feel like,
this orbital ball from the fringes of The Milky Way?
Raining Flavor
Icing Flavor
flavor love
Turn up the frequency
What does it look like,
this orbital ball from the fringes of The Milky Way?
What does it feel like,
this orbital ball from the fringes of The Milky Way?
Raining flavor
Icing flavor
Spread that flavor
flavor flavor

the latest craze that is ROYCE!

i'm not really that fond of chocolates but this one is the bomb!

i bought a box of Royce in Times Square, HK after having heard of great reviews about it. i was just curious as to what the craze is all about and for 85 HKD (roughly 600 PhP) then it must really be something special.

It comes in an insulated box with a little spoon inside, and lo and behold it does taste heavenly and just melts in your mouth.

i'm eating it just one piece at a time so afraid that it will soon disappear haha! but the good news is, there's now a Royce outlet at Rockwell. but of course, i don't think i would troop there just to buy some 600 peso chocolate, any donors? hehehe....

fengshui please?

i couldn't help but smile at the security guard in Bo's Coffee here in katip when i passed by tonight. after all i was in a festive mood as i shivered from the cold Christmas air. i also felt delighted that at last after having been closed for the past three weeks, Bo's Coffee Shop is now once again open for business.

flashback to three weeks ago, i was so surprised when i saw the then closed coffee shop with it's glass walls smashed and most of its interiors destroyed. i asked the guard in there as to what happened and learned that a truck rammed on the store hitting some parked cars, breaking the glass walls and injuring some customers in the process.

it instantly hit me that maybe this store really just needs to get fengshui-d. bo's coffee is only here in katip for barely four years but it has been a victim of hold ups more than twice already and now this accident.

back in the 90's (yeah, i'm that old haha!), this was the site for Bun on the Run and later The Barn which was then managed by celebrity couple Mariz and Ronnie Ricketts. i later heard that the management was turned over to someone else but sales still didn't pick up till it closed shop.

i love this Bo's Coffee, it has to be the biggest one i've been to at three storeys and the most homey as well. the ones i've been to in Cebu and Bacolod were mostly kiosks and not even as cozy. i love the idea that they serve breakfast all day long haha! such a delight for a late sleeper that i am.and there's free wifi for every cup of coffee that you order.

oh well, i really hope that nothing untoward will happen to them anymore. it has been quite sad passing through their store the past days with all it's lights unlit.

i'm just glad they are back in business now.

wanting for more...

they say a grand vacation should be enough to satisfy all those longings you've had in life. when you're all weary and tired from our day to day issues we can't help but dream of going away and just frolic in the sun or even the rain.

did just that a few days ago with my wacky, crazy friends and just had a blast.

nope, i'm not gonna say anything about our worthless tour operator anymore as he really isn't worth it. we're all but lucky that we are all good friends who could support each other even if he has managed to make monsters out of everyone of us. oh well.

the more than 13 hours of land trip to Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte may be too long but seeing all these just made it really worth it.

Maira-ira Beach (Blue Lagoon)

sunset at the beach with great friends

capture, memorize each moment. at least once in our weary lives we had this moment. just us, and the stillness of the waters as the sun slowly bids adieu to us all.

ahh, bliss. such serenity, such calmness.

jumpshot at the bangui windmills

at Calle Crisologo in Vigan where time must have stood still as we gallivant around as if we owned every nook and cranny of it.

i'm indeed so glad we had it all, not just these photos but the memories that will forever be embedded in our hearts and minds. just the same, for most of our insatiable selves, i'd still want, badly need some more.

FR: Vertical Horizon

(photos courtesy of parangtukmol)

i know i've been overly dramatic the past days that i might not be to able to watch the concert but well yeah, i did.

when we got to araneta a lot of people were milling around but there really wasn't a long queue. tickets were still available even up to GP which was at P525. i was prepared to shell out only up to P1050 if GP tickets were not available anymore. sorry, i guess i'd only dare sit up front and shell out a couple of thousands only if it's going to be tori amos or chris cornell or billy corgan.

when we got inside twas kinda sad looking at how there were a lot of empty seats upfront and everywhere around the bleachers side. we were actually seated on the upper box so our view was still a-ok.

i've forgotten though how cold araneta can be. i guess i was used to watching uaap games there with such a huge wild crowd that i thought it won't get cold that much. i was telling andy na lang to pretend we're watching it abroad and that it's freakin snowy outside haha!

rivermaya opened up the show and wow i missed rico blanco so much! i knew i was shouting too much of "i love you, rico!" and "i miss you rico!" LOL! but then the new guy Jayson is such a performer too. i had goosebumps when he sang Himala with such power. Japs, Mike and Elgar are quite malamya performers eh which is why i felt how i sorely miss Rico's todo performance. But Jayson's youth (he's only 18) and energy could very well bring the band up once again. and i guess they will still remain as my fave Pinoy band of all time (more so for the love of Rico hehe).

then out came Jaime Kennedy supposedly of the Jaime Kennedy Experiment. sorry i didn't know who he was. but andy enthusiastically stood up and took vids and photos of him. we had a great time laughing at his jokes though which was mostly R-18. he also made fun of a lot of Chinese and Jap guys up to even the Catholic altar boys. dang, i'm sure he hit some soft, dangerous spots in there.

araneta was almost filled up when VH finaly came out after a good few minutes.
they opened up with Inside You...and wow, the experience was almost surreal. the fans sitting up front all stood up and leaned on the railings. the crowd just roared and i could almost feel araneta tremble. Utterly gorgeous Matt Scannel actualy got inside everyone of us.

When they sang the more famous songs as Best I Ever Had, You're a God, Everything She Wants, you could see how each one held up their lit celphones or cameras recording the performances.

unfortunately i didn't now a lot of their songs which brought me to just sitting and listening and daydreaming. one thing why i'm into rock groups is that most vocalists are just total hotties haha! they would apear all rough and brawny but you'd see them transform to mere boys once they sing and dance around and shout out expressions of love and hurts and all the good and bad stuff.

it was totaly heartwarming how Matt just uttered over and over again how "incredible" their Manila experience was. their first in Asia at that. he must have said "thank you" countless of times. he even practiced his few Tagalog words as "magandang gabi", "mahal ko kayo" much to the delight of the audience. i know it's quite customary for foreign acts to just say it to wow the audience but his sincerity was just overwhelming. mahal ko na din siya!

he even said something about coming back and getting an apartment here already LOL!

the show ended after about 2 hours of them singin and rockin and us roaring and sighing and drinking that sight and sound which was the vertical horizon phenomenon.

oh yeah, i've totally become enamored with that big, bald guy who looks a lil bit like alex crisano haha!

i have just downloaded their Go album and has been listening to it over and over now. am still so hung over. =)

*sniff*

seems like no one can accompany me to the vertical horizon concert this friday at araneta. i guess i'll just have to buy myself some beers, munch on hot n spicy cheding's, watch as many VH vids i could find on youtube, and sniff...or even bawl.:(

and i think am gonna be coming down with something..all these rains..and the cold...more sniffs.

dreamy

I believe in the sand beneath my toes...

(third eye blind)

my brother has been asking me to drop by zamboanga city where he is currently working for their Christmas party on the 20th. i have booked my flight and we'll just go home together by bus to our home in Iligan. nevermind if it's but another 10-12 hour trip. ilang beses na sya nagparinig that i should drop by and see his place there so i should for once give in.

in return, i've been prodding him to take me to sta. cruz island too. dang, it's been really cold lately and am dreaming of the warm sun to kiss my pale skin once more.

he told me that it might be dangerous at this time as there's some war brewing over at Sulu and that we might need some Marine escorts in case we do visit.

i don't really mind. there's always war on that part of the world most of the time anyway. and having armed escorts does sound cool, right?

but i've alway believed that my bro, our only boy in the family lacks the adventurous spirit we, the women in the family has. har-har.

but i'm really still hoping and praying he gives in.

man, how can i not drool on this one:

falling into uncertainty

these are my words
that i've never said before
i think i'm doing okay
and this is the smile
that i've never shown before...(Staind)

I guess life wants to play tricks on us sometimes. Just when I thought I only want to stay cool and hide from the rest of the world I get into a situation where I can’t help but let my defenses down. It can prove to be pretty scary but the more I fight it, the more I brush it off, it becomes more nagging that it’s just easier to give in and go with the flow.

I have thought of a lot of grave negative reasons not to fall but I get a million more to just let go and embrace it all. Yeah, I claim how bad I’ve been battered and bruised and how jaded I’ve become but being here, being in this situation now makes me feel how good it is to be breathing each day, drinking each moment, savoring even the uncertainty.

And now I get to feel all the mush of being giddy with just seeing the places we used to go to or even just pass by. Places I used to carelessly walk by but now make me heave a deep sigh and paint that sly smile on my face in spite of some sense of longing I’ve never felt before.

Things have gone a-rosy once more. And hope just springs from everywhere. And although I sometimes get to sense fear of the unknown, of what is uncertain, I pray, choose and decide each day to just let it all slide off. I have learned to trust my intuitions and bask at the warmth of it all.

This brings to mind some words I’ve read from way, way back, when Robert Kincaid from the Bridges of Madison County ultimately told Francesca Johnson that:

"in this world of ambiguity this kind of certainty comes only once, and never again, no matter how many lifetimes you live".

I am indeed allowing myself to just fall into this uncertainty hoping that it can lead me to my certainty. I am taking my risk but I feel I am glorified by my choice. I am glad I am here and I have this right now.

I know I am blabbering once more. But I just want to say all this hoping I could still give you that big stupid grin on your face. Muchos gracias and happy birthday!

my anti-depressant

stress and PMS is indeed such an irritating mix. good enough, i get to listen to this song well enough and get to drink each word and feel soothed...nevermind if i have to listen to it looped 5-6 times on my phone and get lost in sweet reverie :)

WORLDS APART (Jars of Clay)

I am the only one to blame for this
Somehow it all ends up the same
Soaring on the wings of selfish pride
I flew too high and like Icarus I collide
With a world I tried so hard to leave behind
To rid myself of all but love
To give and die

To turn away and not become
Another nail to pierce the skin of one who loves
More deeply than the oceans,
More abundant than the tear
Of a world embracing every heartache

Can I be the one to sacrifice
Or grip that spear and watch the blood and water flow

To love you – take my world apart
To need you – I am on my knees
To love you – take my world apart
To need you – broken on my knees

All said and done I stand alone
Amongst remains of a life I should not own
It takes all I am to believe
In the mercy that covers me

Did you really have to die for me?
All I am for all you are
Because what I need and what I believe are worlds apart

Additional Lyrics:

I look beyond the empty cross
forgetting what my life has cost
and wipe away the crimson stains
and dull the nails that still remain
More and more I need you now,
I owe you more each passing hour
the battle between grace and pride
I gave up not so long ago
So steal my heart and take the pain
and wash the feet and cleanse my pride
take the selfish, take the weak,
and all the things I cannot hide
take the beauty, take my tears
the sin-soaked heart and make it yours
take my world all apart
take it now, take it now
and serve the ones that I despise
speak the words I can’t deny
watch the world I used to love
fall to dust and thrown away
I look beyond the empty cross
forgetting what my life has cost
so wipe away the crimson stains
and dull the nails that still remain
so steal my heart and take the pain
take the selfish, take the weak
and all the things I cannot hide
take the beauty, take my tears
take my world apart, take my world apart
I pray, I pray
take my world apart

Worlds apart.

revising my playlist

1 gig of memory is never enough to contain all my desired mp3s on my playlist as i have to save space for my vids, images, etc...i'm thinking of updating my hits and get to listen more to my newly acquired (re: downloaded from multiply) ones hehe...Note that i get to listen to this more when i go out to jog...thus all mellow/mushy songs i leave in my pc which i'd usually just listen to at work...so here's my random 25 songs so far...and yeah, if you have any suggestions pls do so...send the mp3 na din, yey!

1. Bouncing off Clouds, Tori Amos...kinda upbeat, very positive song.

2. All I Want, Toad the Wet Sprocket...for my 80's blood

3. A Lack of Color, Death Cab by Cuties...not so upbeat but it's like taking me to some woody, comfy countryside.

4. Down with the Sickness, Disturb...makes me want to pound on the streets and stride faster and quicker..

5. The Walk, Imogen Heap...fun, catchy...energetic.

6. Soul Meets Body, Death Cab for Cuties...see previous blog entry with vid hehe..

7. Flood, Jars of Clay..."rain, rain on my face hasn't stop raining for days..."

8. Crash Into Me, Dave Matthews Band...oh so sexy song that makes me want to lose all that excess fats fast!

9. So Far Away...reminds me of who i'm missing and what i have to fight and work for...if only to get to that part when i don't want to wake up anymore from the dream.

10. No Ordinary Love, Deftones...i have yet to hear the original Sade version...but i adore this one already.

11. We Give in Sometimes, Up Dharma Down..."fire and ice meet in between"

12. System, Chester Bennington...He's just soo freakin hot in this song...and the lyrics are just so vampire-y..:D

13. Hot Gates, 300 OST...because am gonna be all ready for battle wahahaha!

14. Mayonaise, Smashing Pumpkins (acoustic cover)...love that part nung pumiyok siya sabay tawa LOL!

15. Closer (Remix), Nine Inch Nails...my most fave distorted love song...the musical experience is almost religious, whoa!

16. Stolen, Dasboard Confessional...my more mushy love song. Reminds me of that summer when i had the most fun.

17. Siren...from my fave movie of all time, Great Expectations, sang by my most fave artist of this lifetime, Tori Amos. I love how she plays with her vocals.

18. Sunburn, Fuel...one summer song I can listen to for all seasons.

19. With or Without You, Keane cover...i love his rendition too.

20. Chasing Cars, Snow Patrol...if I just lay here would you lie with me, and just forget the world.

21. 747, Kent...must be the video that makes me want to run real fast...

22. Tears, The Chameleons UK...one catchy, truly lovable 80s hit. ;)

23. City of Blinding Lights, U2...other than it being about NY or any other great city, it greatly tells how much better it must be to remain naive and innocent and continue to have that sense of wonder for everything we are passionate about.

24. Purple People (Live), Tori Amos...pls refer to my previous uploaded video by the PS22 choir haha!

25. Today, Smashing Pumpkins...Love it! i want this to be played on my birthday, on my wedding day, on my funeral, all day, everyday! Hahaha!

after havin lunch and coffee with an old friend, i dropped by national bookstore to get me some good book to read. oh well, i found myself on the comic book section and found these:

i already have both books alright but aren't they lovely??? i sat there for a while and contemplated on it, after all one comic book costs P839 and the other is at P979, phew! i texted my bestfriend, i felt i was such in a dilemma haha! she told me to close my eyes and choose eenie-meenie-miney-moe...but the stubborn one that i am took both and ran straight to the cashier before i could change my mind hehehe...

smart bro has to wait, never mind if my brother's gonna kill me!

at least i'll have something to pass on Xan when he gets older :D

happy gorgeous mommy's day to me!!!

can't take my eyes off you...

i must be having my own post valentine blues...
i was about to sleep last night when i heard blower's daughter by damien rice playing on the radio. i stood up, turned up the volume and just listened to it in the darkness. some songs just do that to me. i sit transfixed as i drink up the melodies and the lyrics.
i've watched closer where this movie came from and i could still recall alice's (natalie portman) mystique smile. but then again, i get vivid images of some young man spurned.

ahh, such a haunting song about unrequitted love....

but then again the girl said:

Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
Leave it all behind?

so maybe there's still hope huh???

(oh, indulge me please!!!:D )

currently replaying...

kinda craving for great expectations once again but i didn't have my cd with me, darn. thank god for you tube though. was able to find some clips which kinda fed my longing. yeah, i've watched this movie for the nth time and i just love it everytime the scenes are played over and over again as if i'm seeing it for the first time. and boy, i've even memorized some lines hehe...

the soundtrack is good too. ethan hawke, my all time hunk acts, though i don't really like gwyneth, she's but gorgeous in here, i love the story, robert de niro, the late great ms. anne bancroft, the production, the location, the support cast, everything, and notice that all their clothes are in different shades of green. ;)

sigh...

any movie you'd also love watching over and over again?

walk this earth alone
lauren christie

You're in the doors that keep revolving
The sirens that keep screaming
You're in the flashing of the headlights
The things that I'm believing

You're in the water that I'm drinking
the sound of 911
The walls that protect me
From the damage that you've done
In this world you are with me

But I walk this earth alone
But all I've eve known
Is you are right beside me
If I love you for a day
You'll blow my life away
Could I leave you behind me

You're in the crashing of the windows
The angels 'round the ceiling
You're in the fire in my belly
The fucked up way I'm feeling

You're in the warning on the label
The pills that dissapear
The whines as I'm talking
The words you'll never hear
In this world you are with me

But I walk this earth alone
But all I've eve known
Is you are right beside me
If I love you for a day
You'll blow my life away
Could I leave you behind me

Could I leave you behind me...

a weekend with tori

turned out i had to stay home again for the weekend. i've a "lakad" (for lack of a better term) which was once again rescheduled. but what the heck, am a resilient kiddo after all. no need to sulk in one corner huh! (yeah right)

i took the time to surf and surf and i realized am missing tori once more. my love for tori go back a long long time ago when a friend of mine introduced me to her pretty good year song so i bought the under the pink album. and i fell in love instantly i started buying her next ones and even backtracked on the previously released albums. i even had a lot of print outs of her pics and lyrics and life story, everything about her which i could get my hands on.

i also asked some friends abroad to get me singles of her which i couldn't fine here. yeah, i've met some rare friends too all because we worship the same goddess.

when neil gaiman came to the country and had schedules for a book signing i and my good friend JB took the time off to line up just for the autographs. never mind if we had to line up for a freakin 6 hours. and of course, i let him sign my Death and The High Cost of Living comic book only because, well of course, tori wrote the introduction ehe! and yeah, all i said to him was "pls, next time bring tori here with you!" hehehe i felt so ashamed of myself much later having realized what i just did! anyway you can review the full story here.

well anyway, i found myself itching for mp3s of here as most of my files are in my computer back home. i was fortunate enough to have found the site www.hereinmyhead.com where i could download almost all the tori hits i could find. yi-ha! so if you view my multiply account you can hear my goddess lulling you to a fantastic consciousness you never knew existed.

as if i was not ecstatic enough i woke up this early morning with a text message from my sister saying that she has finally found me the Tales of a Librarian double cd which i've been wanting for so long.

haaay, this is the layp!

7 things i wish for 2007

am not so good at keeping resolutions so i'll just list a few wishes for the new year to come.

1. 15,000 miles. i hope to accumulate at least that in my Mabuhay Miles to at least take me to Singapore or wherever. So far I have 12000 plus. Yey!

2. 4 + 1. being the wanderlust that i am i hope i could travel to 4 interesting spots around the country and at least one abroad. don't really care whether it's work related or Pex sabit. waah!

3. 50K. with how much i earn and spend a month i wish to have this modest savings by the end of the year. i wish! i wish!

4. 50% off. i've been maxing my credit cards left and right and the interests i pay every month are just outrageous. i really wish i could just throw them out the window or lock it out for good. sigh.

5. 100 lbs. i really wish to keep my weight down to at least a 100 lbs. am barely 5' it wouldn't look good if i become overweight. that would spell then a regular trip to the gym and not to the kitchen har-har.

6. 100%. someday soon i just want to be a full time mom to my growing bebi Xan. who's really turning into a bebi no more. sniff.

7. The One. hmmm...i don't know how to describe this. i'll just leave it to my Maker. Prays.

Have you any wish too???

goin gaga over gaiman...

"hi marinela!"

" hi, and pls. say hi to tori for me."

"you're not the first girl to tell me that i should tell her to come and play for the Philippines"

"yeah, you should bring her next time. especially now that you're here."

i guess those were my words when i finally faced my god, neil gaiman, after queuing for like 7 hours in gateway mall yesterday. looking back, i realized how rude i might have sounded. all i blabbered on was tori i just hope he would not have been offended. and yeah, i don't think i even bothered to say thank you. i was fumbling and mumbling then left. my friend kinda told me he was still saying something when i left but then i barely noticed that of course.

what may have been worse was that my friend, Jb, who's another raving tori fan also said the same things like, "Please bring tori amos here!". We we're both aghast later on realizing that we may have sounded inconsiderate at that time. Looking back, we were even envious at those girls who got hugged and kissed or at least had handshakes. Jb was like practicing, "Can i molest you?". We were both aiming for at least a hug or a peck in the cheek or at least "isang kurot lang" and yet we were so starstruck we got nothing at all.

i was just really dumbfounded. i guess i felt so small being near him. i felt like he was my true god i could not even look him straight in the eyes. my, i wasn't even able to touch him when he was just an arm's length away!

heheh, before i continue ranting and raving on let me at least say a bit about gaiman. i first got to know gaiman through his graphic novels/comic books, the Sandman series. i have yet to collect the entire 10 comic books yet so far i only have 4 of them. each comic book would cost about a thousand bucks eh. but he's got his other fantasy novels though as Stardust, Neverwhere, Good Omens, American Gods, to name but a few. i think i have all his books. what added to the thrill and admiration is that he is also closely related to my music goddess, tori amos! i specifically had my "death and the high cost of living" graphic novel signed as it was tori who wrote the introduction.

oh well...when i got home past 9pm i realized how stupid i was for everything that i did and did not do. i could have at least looked and known the color of his eyes or at least told him to enjoy more of the Philippines, as there's more to our country than book signings! man, the guy had been signing for like 5-6 hours nonstop (well he did took a quick cr break as we waited). and to think that was already his 3rd day! i heard he signed for 3000 fans in powerplant the other day. drat, he must be that tired and traumatized with his experience and worse all i said was "say hi to tori for me!" was i thinkin????

haay naku, buti na lng i've a couple of shots and videos shots of him to remind me of my katangahan heheheh....
