ACEd anew!

i am no longer an Ace Water Spa virgin since i've been here twice already a couple of years back. this is however the first time that i was able to experience their Pasig-Pioneer branch, thanks to a groupon promo a friend got for us, yay!

Ace Water Spa is definitely a perfect venue where we could rejuvenate and at the same time bond with friends and family. This branch has exactly the same features as they have in their Banawe branch. And i appreciate it more that they are stricter as far as following the dress code is concerned. Everyone is in their swimsuits and trunks, although a few still get away with wearing shorts even on top of their what look like a pair of cycling shorts, duh!

Boasting of 25 massage systems, a lazy river, water falls, saunas, steam rooms and mint pools, a floor fountain, etc, etc...one is never left with nothing to do or explore in the facility. and since it is indoors we can all enjoy this rain or shine or stormy.

Regular rates for 4 hours of spa service is P550 for adults and P250 for kids. Check out their promos though who knows you might be able to get a good enough deal. ;)

Ace Water Spa is at:

399 Del Monte Avenue, SFDM, Quezon City

and at United Cor. Brizton Sts., (near Pioneer) Pasig City

chopsuey

wala lang ako maisip na title..magulo utak ko..i just want to write all these stuff down.

******************

great party last saturday, yey! just that i don't feel like goin to side bar for a while muna. i'm not so crazy over those diluted drinks, nah, sorry. i still miss the plain, good, old beer hehe.

*******************

i watched Trainspotting that friday night. the Brit accent will always be cool. but that film is one crazy, crazy ride. :p

*********************

watched Basic Instinct that saturday, ho-hum...Michael Douglas seems to act the same whatever movie he stars in haha. Sharon Stone looks immaculate but she's almost like some mannequin, perfect but lifeless. the love scenes weren't really that hot. or maybe i'm just so full of xtube (oops, lol!)

**********************

sigh, Wicker Park is and will always be a good one. i peeked on those deleted scenes and found it to be more interesting. will start scouting for it's original french version when i get the chance.

**********************

oh yeah, do drop by the second floor at metrowalk for those hard to find dibidis, from classic films to the artsy, obscure ones. i hope to go back there for more.

***********************

feeling pretty bit messed up the past days. my apologies for everyone else who's got the blues too. it's not that i don't wanna acknowledge your hurts, just that right now, it's ours that matters to us the most.

*************************

i'll forever be grateful for friends who understand and show that they care. let the prayer brigade rage on! =)

**************************

i love weekends when there's not much to do and no place else to go. when i'd get too excited about what film to watch next, what the updates are in my online community. just that sometimes, i'd get frazzled as to whether i should eat first or take a bath or just let on and sleep. i thank God for food deliveries when my cupboard runs empty. but i've to admit that at most times i'd rather sleep or munch on crackers when i'm almost too lazy to call/count my change/choose what food to get/let it cost up to the minimun food order. yeah, i'm that lazy sometimes, eh ano naman. :p

****************************

i'm not feeling all blissed-out these days. i'm emo as emo can be, yuck!!!!

ACE is the life!

had the chance to try out the ace water spa this saturday. too bad we couldn't take pictures inside but we did have almost 4 glorious hours of fun and relaxation for but 500 bucks.

it's actually easy to go there getting off from quezon ave mrt station and hailing a cab going to the location in banawe via quezon ave. riding several jeepneys to the place proved quite tricky which is why we ended up hailing a cab which was but 80 bucks anyway.

upon reaching the place, paying, getting our swimming caps, changed into our swimwear and showered ai, karl and i took the time exploring and trying out the different hydromassages. and there were a lot for different pressure points as the foot, buttocks, back, chest. my over all favorite was the one wherein we can lie face down with jets of water falling hard on our backs like rainfall. karl had a fancy time having his b.alls massaged too waheheh..ai couldn't quite take being tickled off by the foot massager. and even the ones where she could be massaged on the legs haha!

after about an hour andy joined us and we got to tour him around the place too. we also sampled out the herbal pools with mint, jasmine or lavender scents in varying degrees of hotness. i got quite claustrophobic in the steam room but the sauna was really nice.

andy had fun with the bucket shower and in sampling the heated pools and sauna.

after a couple of hours playing and getting massaged we found ourselves floating around the lazy river. i was able to take a few laps on their lapping pool too. wow, i can still complete one stretch! though i still find freestyle kinda complicated, back and breast strokes are still passable.

the most fun we had must be with the floor fountain where we got to be kids again running around, stepping, sitting on jets of water haha! we even requested for the mushroom shower supposedly just for kids to be turned on. darn, really too bad we couldn't get pics inside.

we didn't finish the 4 hours actually as we were already starved and was talking greatly about what to order at our dinner in mr. kababs in quezon corner west avenues. we were given a complimentary bowl of soup upon leaving the spa which was a bit enough to provide us some strength while we queued up for our table in Kabab's where more friends joined us for a dinner of korma, keema, pita bread and glen's libre of yogurt drinks .

we capped off our gimmick with a mucho mug in quattro along timog, some sisig and bibingka. yey! another great time with the kaladkarins!

transfixed...

oops, no drama here..not even a sniff. bleh!

the past long weekend has found me transfixed in front of my pc...as if i'm never ever..

a friend of mine sent me a link where i could watch movies for free wow! i checked it it out and boy, i'm glued...at least i got something to do for the long weekend.

the first movie i searched of course was Neil Gaiman's Stardust...i'm still quite disappointed as to why it's still not shown here in the Philippine cinemas...not even the trailer...haaay so third world! but then am sort of not that satisfied with the movie. sure, Michelle Pfeifer looks gorgeous in here. Claire Daines and the noobie Charlie Cox look good together. sad to say i barely noticed Sienna Miller, nor Robert de Niro and even Peter o Toole...and yeah, fine, memorable details from the book were changed ayayay! let's see if i'd still want to watch this on the big screen though.

then i saw Ratatouille...totally entertaining!

Because I Said So (Mandy Moore is hot! and Diane Keaton is still gorgeous.)

Goal 2 (so many eyecandies, so-so story)

Ocean's 13 (hmmm...i miss the girls!)

Bourne Ultimatum (not so good copy pa so i didnt finish it as i'd still see people standing up and walking around haha!)

Apocalypto (wow, felt queasy during the entire film i'd almost wanna stop watching it but my niece told me she's seen it so many times over i just had to at least see it once. but yeah, it's a good one even if i had to skip so many gory scenes)

License to Wed (after Apocalypto i knew i just had to watch another feel good movie and what could it be but anything Mandy Moore, so there!)

Black Snake Moon (whoa, Cristina Ricci is half naked in more than a half part of the movie. and there's her steamy sex scene with Justine Timberlake on the first two minutes of the film. I'm sorry but it's kinda hard seeing JT as an actor as i could almost imagine him spontaneously belting out our doing his dance moves hehe...what i recall most though is that Samuel Jackson could actually come out as great sexy blues artist. ;) )

Donnie Darko on youtube (Jake Gyllenhall must be the best thing in this movie and the soundtrack of course)

there, about 10 films in three days..and yeah, i got to jog, had my peds, had a wax session, went to the ukay, read almost halfway through of Laura Esquivel's Malinche, and even watched more of One Tree Hill season 4 and the Wonder Years biography and pilot episode all on youtube.

Hail to the internet and long weekends!

am sorry, i barely even remembered it's supposed to be Ninoy's day..well, bless him na rin

one freaky long weekend

i'm doin this amidst all the stuff i have to pack. am leavin again in a couple of days and though i know i have to be excited i still feel somehow listless. oh well, trust me for not being able to see the best in even the greatest of things. there's always a but, a mar on what could be an almost perfect event. sigh.

well let me get back to the past days i've gone through anyway...maybe you'll get to understand things better. or maybe i'll get to appreciate life more hahahay...

it's been quite a long weekend. and though i could have the choice of spending it outside partying with friends and acquaintances i'd still find myself going back to the hollowed halls which is our office.

oh well, am only describing what could have been a great event of a series of holidays and am already ranting hahahah!

sorry, this could be PMS talking out loud. i've been cramping so bad the past days. sometimes i wish i could just stick out some sore thumb up my "throat" and let it just gush out. some graphics huh!

last friday, i went out with some 30 something people whom i've met for the first time. and oh, sorry but i suddenly felt so old. oops, i hope they don't get to read this hehehehe...a friend of mine who i invited and was not even on his 30s asked me where i felt i should belong. i told him kse i felt so old being with the other group which is composed mostly of "kids" and here i am still whining that these people "my age" makes me feel out of place just the same wahahaha! errr, maybe am still in denial that i am indeed old? or maybe because i just feel i look so young being sitted alongside them (kapal! hehe) or maybe because i feel i still haven't accomplished much compared to most people my age? (hmmm, this is the bitter me talkin out i guess). well, anyway the group's tagline happens to be In your 30s? Still single? How Come? well whoever wrote that thread must be thinking hard why she's still single too and is hoping to get consolation from others who are in the same situation as she is. but most of us in the group bothered not to tackle the "how come?" part. kebs na lang...why do we have to wrack our brains trying to answer that anyway. but then again i have Xan already, why bother with it anyway. i realized i could be attached now for all i care had i opted to...nah, awat na..i would not want to go through that again. sigh...

the discussions in the group tackled careers, "close up moments" (whatever that is), and the dreaded lovelives. but then it was because of more career talks when discussions became sort of heated for the guys. i didn't exactly get it, my head was swimming in beer already heheh..we went home around 4am that day and oh, that left more thoughts for me to face the morning after. hmmm...

was still left with a couple more days then to laze and hopefully not wallow anymore. great though that i discovered this online radio which made me listen to old rock alternative tracks i haven't listened to in years. imagine me being able to listen to nirvana's heartshaped box, everclear's sta. monica, and more metallica and guns and roses and pearl jam which are not yet on my playlist?!! great god indeed! now i can't help but listen to it all day long yey!

i've also discovered some bootlegs of tori amos' latest album as stated on my previous blog entry heheh...i asked a friend to download it for me. i emailed my sis to get me the special edition package, i hope they could deliver waaah!. am such a toriphile :P

hmm, so these stuff are what made me glued on the pc the past days, other than my seemingly debilitating PMS. i'd rather stay here than go out for coffee. i'd rather order food than go get them myself. i'd rather sit here than take my shower hahahaha!

and now back to packing. sigh. this is the last leg of my trip. i''l be off to bukidnon then iligan. yey! i've just learned that there's another bundok trip in bukidnon that if it rains we'd have to walk for two hours waaah! and we'll be passing through CdO and i hope to get into white water rafting yey! and oh, i've my upcoming period to face pala, haay...bahala na.

and of course i'll be home in iligan and spend QT with my Xan. more yey!!! and though i have to interview like 4 people there i hope to be lugging Xan around so i won't have to part ways with him ever. weeeeh!

then i'll have to come back here again. for a while. this is when things become tricky. i'll be staying here for a while. no more trips. no where else to go to. that means i'll be here in the freakin office for the next 24/7 waaaah! how can i face that?? even if it's still quite far away i still dread thinkin that :(

and yeah, there's the career option to think of, finally. haven't i told you? i wanna leave this job soon! yeah, i intend to do a rico blanco of sorts. leave my job which i've had the past 9 years. it's gonna be hard. i don't even know how to start. or should i really go through it? or what. ssshhh, don't tell anyone.

well, newei, let me finish packing and just get on with the present. leaping off, thinking ahead too much most often spoils the fun d ba?!
hope you had a great weekend too.

oopps, this is quite a freaky long post too! :D

swift but sweet...

i got to go home to iligan for a few days last week...particularly mar. 17 to 21...my sis arrived from NY and she was to attend the graduation of her unica hija, Mai and my other niece Bb...twas indeed a grand time for celebrations as my mom celebrated her 64th birthday on the 20th...

we arrived early am that 17th and the family (yes, the entire family, all 12 of them!) was already set in welcoming us at the CdO airport. my sis and i though was more excited in seeing my 1 year old son. whoa! i haven't really seen him in almost 2 months! we just got to the airport and i was already scouring my son amongst the crowd. of course it was not so hard spotting him with his frowning looks perched on my bros shoulders. he still had the ultra creamy skin and chubby, chubby cheeks. weeh!! i couldn't quite help myself but run to get him. :D

my bro happened to have received his bonus composed of SM gift cetificates which he distributed to us all. twas indeed a great time for shopping and strolling. and yeah, running after Xan who just wanted to walk all around SM with his quick lil feet. we would take turns carrying him yet i still had muscle pains all over at the end of that day. sigh.

the next day, the 18th, we prepared for the graduation ceremonies. we were at the salon and had our hair done when a kid selling ponkan oranges gave us tips for swertres or the 3-digit lotto. i placed a bet on the numbers and won 1500 the next day hahahah!

we trooped to the school gym later that day, took pics and enjoyed the ceremony. we had food prepared at home, invited our relatives and friends and as always enjoyed the celebration.
wow, congrats to our nieces!!!

the following day, the 19th, i stayed home and played with Xan all day long. such bliss! i also got to clean my pc with all the unecessary files that forever gave me a low disk space alert....later that night we went on with a drinking spree at home with my mom giving Xan a sip of vodka cruiser hahaha! forgive us, Xan actually felt the effects of alcohol as he swayed around the room, giggled and squealed, laid down then closed his eyes and slept soundly till almost noon the next day...

on the 20th, we once again prepared for my Mom's birthday party...actually, twas more just my mom doing the cooking and the preparations of the food as we hover around to taste her dishes hehe...my bro brought shrimps and crabs from zamboanga so we had a lot of seafoods to feast on again wow!!
more of her friends and our relatives pored in and partied with us again. Xan was just too delighted with the crowd he has gotten used to facing our guests, smiling and making cutesy faces at them. people would ask my mom her age and she would gladly say she's 64!! they would ask the secret to her youthful aura and i would vehemently reply, "it's Xan" hehehe...true enough, Xan has been a true blessing to our home bleh!
before the night ended we we're finally able to gather the entire family and took a complete family pic...so here we are, the royal familia MIRASOL!

the following day, the 21st, i had to finally leave early again to catch my early am flight back to manila...back to reality...well, swift but sweet indeed!

ateneo blues

yeah, i've lived here inside the campus since time immemorial. never left actually. but then i've stayed away from the college for a while now. my life then in the ateneo seemed too distant just the same.

however, i got to reminisce my old days when i met my long lost friend KF this weekend. i agreed to tour him around the college, technically though we toured it together as i've never really visited our spots again in a long time.

we started off walkin along edsa walk and searched for our org corkboard, unfortunaly we didn't see much posters, not that many activities huh?

then we went lookin for our org room, drat the old building where we used to hang out is no longer the old dilapidated one instead there stood this fancy, fancy building which we can't see ourselves runnin and lounging around tsk tsk...we even looked for our old maintenance guy, mang manny but we didn't find him anymore. but the new building though is now named after him, yun nga lang Manny Pangilinan hahahah!!!

from there we went to the Church of the Gesu and stood in awe at the magnificent structure. KF though went lookin for the sword supposedly held by the Sacred Heart statue of Jesus *boink-boink*!!! patience, patience my dears. :D

then we went to pollock and looked at the magnificent view overlooking marikina. i remembered having watched the moonrise there over the valley. there we sat for a while and caught up on things. i really missed those conversations. even the meaningful silences shared. i believe we do need that deep conversations once in a while. it does pay to have a friend who knows you and who can get you and would care listenin to you rants and all.

from there we went to the back of faura building, another fave spot. too bad the sun was out already. we used to get a good view of the sunset then. there are tall buildings now blocking the view though. sigh.

sa likod ng ng faura, it's there where we used to stare at the people outside. marvelling at how busy their lives are as they rush from one destination to another. we used to create stories about people in the cars passing by. at the same time we would reflect on our lives. how distant we are from them. it's like bein on a fishbowl. inside the ateneo everythin is safe, controlled, warm.

we must have stayed there for hours. talking and not talking. after all, as padre ferriols would have said pag nasasabi mo na ang lahat ng nasabi, ang pinaka importante pa din ay ang hindi nasasabi.

we left the campus kinda sad but happy still. a lot have indeed changed but vestiges of the home we once knew remained. what matters most anyway are the memories, the laughters, the hurts, all the shouting when things weren't so good and the making up when circumstances were better understood. and most of all, realizing that there is always a home you could come home to, and a friend who could hold your hand till the end.

tnx KF!

a weekend with tori

turned out i had to stay home again for the weekend. i've a "lakad" (for lack of a better term) which was once again rescheduled. but what the heck, am a resilient kiddo after all. no need to sulk in one corner huh! (yeah right)

i took the time to surf and surf and i realized am missing tori once more. my love for tori go back a long long time ago when a friend of mine introduced me to her pretty good year song so i bought the under the pink album. and i fell in love instantly i started buying her next ones and even backtracked on the previously released albums. i even had a lot of print outs of her pics and lyrics and life story, everything about her which i could get my hands on.

i also asked some friends abroad to get me singles of her which i couldn't fine here. yeah, i've met some rare friends too all because we worship the same goddess.

when neil gaiman came to the country and had schedules for a book signing i and my good friend JB took the time off to line up just for the autographs. never mind if we had to line up for a freakin 6 hours. and of course, i let him sign my Death and The High Cost of Living comic book only because, well of course, tori wrote the introduction ehe! and yeah, all i said to him was "pls, next time bring tori here with you!" hehehe i felt so ashamed of myself much later having realized what i just did! anyway you can review the full story here.

well anyway, i found myself itching for mp3s of here as most of my files are in my computer back home. i was fortunate enough to have found the site www.hereinmyhead.com where i could download almost all the tori hits i could find. yi-ha! so if you view my multiply account you can hear my goddess lulling you to a fantastic consciousness you never knew existed.

as if i was not ecstatic enough i woke up this early morning with a text message from my sister saying that she has finally found me the Tales of a Librarian double cd which i've been wanting for so long.

haaay, this is the layp!

sunday delight

after visiting Gesu (turned out there's no mass for today) i walked all the way to gate 2 bent on getting myself a chicken joy. hell, nothin beats some familar food sometimes. as i walked up the overpass though i saw the red big sign which reminded me of some mouth watering buttery creamy mashed potatoes so i didn't hesitate and went to red ribbon instead. jollibee can always wait.

such a great Sunday just the same. ;)

the weekend that was

i kinda had a good enough weekend...quite interesting but not that great. newei, here's a few recap.:

1. had the luxury of waking up late...yeah, sleep is such a heavenly thing for me to do. i love to sleep! and since i've "lived" here in the office i could not sleep till late anymore. so this weekend i took my time and woke up like past 12 heheh...

2. i later went to the salon and had my toe nails done. had it painted red. landi!!!!

3. later that afternoon i got to meet some new friends from pex singles' couch. met up with miss vb, my nick relative and had coffee at bo's. we had quite a chitchat as we waited for santo and naru to arrive. i have been reading this cutesy story at pex titled welcome to my life and is so touched by it that i brought them to meat shop, were one of the scenes actually took place. however, my images of it were shattered because, they have just transferred to a different location. and though it was but near, the service seemed to have gone back to a dry run. we waited for almost an hour for our food. we were hungry and we had to wait a long time even if we only asked for additional bowls or spoons. drat! our friend santo felt compensated for their incompetence though by taking home a bowl and a tissue holder. :p

4. that night, i was able to track down a long lost friend via friendster. i met gen like 9 years ago during a national writers workshop held in iligan. she hails from antique.we had crazy times. i remember vividly, us young girls then, lounging at the hotel rooftop singing along with tori amos, lost in the melodies and drift of her songs. gen considers us all as "old souls" don't exactly know what it means but i sense something really meaningful and beautiful about it. i'm set to meet her for coffee soon. yey!

5. i went to mass that sunday morning, my first in ages. i still felt peaceful and reflective in there. i've seen a few college friends and boy how i envied those who were with their families. i've always loved the sight of young ladies hugging their dads and every child kissing their parents while wishing them "peace". never fails to melt my heart.

6. after mass i went out of the campus to eat and later sought a net cafe where i hope to see Xan on webcam. unfortunately Xan was asleep, and they had trouble back home connecting to ym. darn it again.

7. i felt really frustrated i wanna kick myself hard. you see, i was hoping i'd get to go out with a friend that sunday. we were supposed to watch a movie. the prospect of being able to go out and see him again actually excited me. however, i didn't hear from him. no text, no nothing. i remembered praying hard that saturday night for just one text message. i don't care if it wasn't pushing through. i just wanted to know instead of waiting for forever. i just hate it so much when i expect. kaya nga i would always remind myself, as said in The Joy Luck Club, "never expect, only hope!". sometimes i wish i could not be that bratty anymore. twas glad though that i still have some ym friends. friends who quizzed me about it only to laugh at me and later comfort me. some friends huh! couldn't really blame them. i found it laughable too. oh well, the "date" never took place. and i might reprimand him about it the next day, or not. i dunno.

8. because of some much ill feelings, i opted to order food at mcdonald's and ended up bingeing on a big mac, large fries and strawberry float. yum!

oh well, i'll pray once more tonight that i'll have a more peaceful disposition for the week to come.

so how was your week?
